Chelsea Transfer News: Baba Rahman Inches Closer To Deal

Augsburg boss Markus Weinzierl is proud of the fact that reigning Premiership champions Chelsea is desperate to rope in his young Ghanaian side back Baba Rahman, according to sources.

The 21-year-old joined Augsburg a year ago for just €2.5 million, and the huge transfer fee the Premiership outfit have agreed to pay for the youngster would yield handsome revenue for the Bundesliga outfit.

Since Filipe Luis returned to Atletico Madrid just one year after a disappointing spell with the Blues, chief-coach Jose Mourinho is looking for another option at left-back.

Stamfordbridge is eagerly waiting for Rahman

Chelsea’s disappointing start to their Premiership title defense with a home draw with Swansea has sparked criticism. Certain immediate changes are also sought after in the roster ahead of the big tie against former champions Manchester City.

Chelsea’s off-season recruitment this summer has been of low key, quite unusually. That leads them to rope in Baba Rahman as replacement for Felipe Luis.

The Ghanaian youngster also gels with Mourinho’s thoughts of grooming talented guys.

The deal was for £14 million initially, not to mention the additional £6 million, subject to performance-related clauses in the contract, according to The Guardian.

To further boost their defense, the Blues are closing in on Everton’s center back John Stones.

Rahman looks confirmed, Stones deal remains wide open, and fans at Stamford Bridge are awaiting both to feature at the heart of their defense!
