On Thursday, Oscar-winning performers Charlize Theron and Sean Penn walked down the red carpet for the screening of “Mad Max: Fury Road” at the Cannes Film Festival.
The film is currently receiving plenty of positive reviews from critics worldwide. As of writing, it has an incredibly rare score of 99% in review aggregator site Rotten Tomatoes.
Wearing a yellow strapless Dior gown, Charlize walked the carpet with grace and elegance, a huge leap from her gritty, hairless character in “Fury Road.”
Thankfully, the lengthy post-shoot process of her movie, which wrapped way back in 2012, allowed her to grow her hair.
Going near-bald for the role was worth it, though. Theron considers “Mad Max: Fury Road” as one of the best films of her career.
“The post-production was really long. You kind of go on with life, and then I saw it and I was in a dark theater kind of by myself and I was a kid back in South Africa watching a movie,” Theron said, as quoted by Hitfix.
“I was really blown away by the time and the effort people put towards this film. I knew it was a long time because my hair was in a ponytail.”
She stars with Tom Hardy in “Mad Max: Fury Road,” which is expected to hit U.S. theaters on Friday.
