There is still somewhat of a hope for “Castle” fans who want to see their beloved detective series continue even after ABC’s decision to cancel its ninth season. A “Castle” spinoff has been confirmed.
However, there is some bad news for those who were hoping to have their “Caskett” fight crimes together or expecting to see Stana Katic become part of “Castle” again. Stana is definitely not coming to the show anytime soon.
According to Movie News Guide, the former leading lady of “Castle” had the following parting message for her fans: “Rather then distract from what was an amazing experience, I would just like to say that I’m very grateful to ABC for giving me the opportunity to be a part of a much beloved show. Thank you to the fans.”
Focusing on the good news, even though season 9 of “Castle” will no longer be possible, the “Castle” spinoff might be underway, since actors Jon Huertas and Seamus Dever, who play Detectives Esposito and Ryan, respectively, have signed up. Talks are going with other familiar faces like Molly Quinn and Susan Sullivan, and Toks Olagundoye from season 8, to reprise their roles on the show as well, reports TVLine.
Nathan Fillion & Stana Katic
As for Nathan Fillion, nothing has been finalized as of yet. Hence, it remains uncertain as to how the spinoff is going to function sans the leading man and woman of the show.
ABC has expressed their deep appreciation of Stana Katic and Tamala Jones’ hard work on the show: “We are grateful for Stana Katic’s talent and dedication to the series and we hope to continue our relationship. Tamala Jones has also been an integral part of the series and we are grateful she was a part of Castle.”
While it was earlier revealed that Stana was leaving the show due to her feud with Nathan, it was later revealed that it could have been due to budgetary problems.
