Award-winning singer Carrie Underwood has announced her new single and album on Thursday during a Q&A on her Facebook page.
The “American Idol” winner announced her new single “Smoke Break,” along with her new album “Storyteller,” her next collection of new songs since she released “Blown Away” back in 2012. The new song may possibly play on country radio stations as early as Thursday, while the album will be released in stores on October 23.
How does listening to Storyteller feel like?
Asked when her album has a theme, Underwood replied, “Of course, there are lots of ‘story’ type songs, but the album as a whole definitely has a ‘feel’ to it…it’s a bit hard to describe while typing…I guess you’ll just have to hear it and find your own way to describe the theme.”
She also admitted that many songs she wrote ended up being more traditional or, in her own words, “twangy.” She is a huge fan of the storytelling aspect that comes with sharing her own music.
So how did “Smoke Break” come to fruition?
“We were writing and kept taking breaks to go outside because we were getting a little stuck on a song we were already working on. It was so beautiful outside, that we had a hard time focusing so we decided to write a song about taking breaks! ‘Smoke Break’ seemed like a great title, so we ran with it!”
A clip of the new song is currently being streamed over at Carrie Underwood’s website.
“Smoke Break” is written by Hillary Lindsey (“Jesus, Take the Wheel”) and Chris DeStefano (“Something in the Water”).
