Good news for UK fans. Microsoft Lumia 550 has received another price cut. Since its launch, the entry-level Windows 10 phone has been enjoying several discounts in the United Kingdom, and recently the device retailer Carphone Warehouse offers a lucrative discount.
Neowin reports that the Lumia 550 is offered at £49.99 (approx. US$71) as per pay-as-you-go (PAYG) plan, provided you buy a new £10 (approx. US$14) PAYG SIM from Virgin Media or Vodaphone. This means you will have to pay a total £59.99 (approx. US$85). In case you are planning to buy from O2 or EE, you will have to pay £54.99 (approx. US$78) plus £10 for PAYG SIM. Carphone, however, does not specify any timeline for the offer, instead simply mentioning that the savings “must end soon.”
Carphone Warehouse also highlights the major features of the phone. Boasting a rich look, the medium-sized phone has a 4.7-inch screen size, which is easy to hold. It runs on the latest version of powerful apps like Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word and Outlook. Get voice control and reminders on your phone with the Cortana virtual assistant.
If you are an amateur at photography, the phone’s 5MP rear camera gets you the perfect shot. Save them in the cloud with OneDrive for sharing with friends through social media. The 2MP selfie-shooter is not bad, too, but it gets even better with a pre-installed Skype for crystal clear video calls.
A decent battery life and a power-packed processor claim the best performance in the phone. Its 2,100mAH battery offers 17 hours of talk-time and 672 hours of standby time. The phone has 1GB of RAM that helps apps run smoothly on the phone.
3G, 4G, Bluetooth, Internet data connection, and Wi-Fi are several connectivity options. While the device offers an 8GB internal space, you may expand it via a microSD card that offers up to 200GB memory capacity.
