Richard Gere and ex- wife Carey Lowell parted ways for years but their battle over money still continues. The reason of split was that he preferred privacy and she liked to party.
Hollywood actor, Richard Gere, who was famously known for his roles in “Pretty Woman” and “The Runaway Bride”, has parted ways with estranged wife, Carey Lowell, since 2014. They have been married for 12 years and they split because Gere, a Buddhist, preferred privacy while Lowell liked to party, according to a report by Page Six.
The two were set to appear in a court hearing to continue their divorce settlement. They both agreed on a share custody over their son but they are still debating over money matters up until now.
In 2015, they left a court hearing over the same money settlement issue “It’s all about money,” Lowell’s lawyer, Robert Cohen told reporters as they left the Manhattan Supreme Court, as reported by New York Daily News. Gere and his lawyer did not comment about the settlement.
The two were reported to have ignored each other as they sat eight feet apart inside the large court room. Their lawyers were in a private back room with Justice Matthew Cooper. They were called in to join the lawyers and the judge.
Lowell, a former “Law & Order” actress, went out of the court house’s front door. “I can’t say anything,” she then told reporters. Gere went out of the back door and hopped in a black car.
In another report, Richard Gere is said to host the Carnegie Hall’s 125th Anniversary Gala Benefit. According to Theater Mania, the event will take place on May 5. Scheduled appearances on the said grand event include Martina Arroyo, Marilyn Horne, pianist Emanuel Ax, singer/pianist Michael Feinstein, soprano Renée Fleming, pianist Lang Lang, mezzo-soprano Isabel Leonard, cellist Yo-Yo Ma, violinist Itzhak Perlman, and singer James Taylor.
