Is Billy Ocean dead? A report claimed that the recording artist has succumbed to death after his visit to South Africa. But what might be the cause of his demise?
The 66-year-old artist was reported to be dead while he was visiting Johannesburg, South Africa, a local radio confirmed the news.
Billy Ocean, who was having his personal visit in the city, reportedly looked ill since Saturday afternoon. He then died after her a rushed to the hospital.
The news, as reported by Times1ve.co.za, said that Billy Ocean’s cause of death has not been confirmed until now.
However, a Snopes report that the news on Billy Ocean being dead are all fake.
The report said that this certain website is a fake news and is one of the sites which copies domain names of big organizations. In their case, they are copying the domain name of TimesLive.co.za so they can get their readers to their sites.
The fake site even put in their disclaimer that they are different from Times Live, though it is obvious that they are mimicking the site.
They said in their disclaimer, “Before you read our disclaimer, we wish to state that, we are not connected to or linked to “Times Live” in any way. Take note of the number “1” in our “TIMES1VE”.
After the fake news about Billy Ocean’s death circled in the web, the real Billy Ocean took to Twitter to clarify the news.
He said in his tweet, “Contrary to the horrible and untrue rumours circulating this week, Billy is very much alive and well.”
Billy Ocean is not the only celebrity who has been a victim of fake dead news. Certain websites have previously reported about the fake deaths of Angelina Jolie, Miley Cyrus, Jaden Smith, Avril Lavigne, and many more.
