Earlier this month, real-life couple Channing Tatum and Jenna Dewan-Tatum made heads turn when they became rivals at the popular Spike segment, “Lip Sync Battle.”
After imitating a few characters in their first performances, Jenna mimicked her husband in a sexy lap dance from “Magic Mike.” But the man in the house won’t let this pass, as he entered the stage dressed as Beyonce and later on revealed Queen B herself in the latter part of the production number.
In an episode of the “Ellen Degeneres Show” on Thursday, Channing Tatum revealed that Beyonce actually texted him after their “Lip Sync Battle” performance. In his chitchat with Ellen, he admitted that it was his first time to see Queen B in the flesh. “I won’t even tell you what I had to do to essentially get her assistant’s phone number. Or text her. I was texting her. I didn’t even have the intention of her coming,” said the hunk actor.
Apparently, it wasn’t planned. Beyonce personally appearing and doing a cameo for his performance wasn’t expected, but it happened. So the “Magic Mike” star was equally as shocked as the audience when Beyonce came out to join him.
Elle once called the incident as an “incredible story.” No one’s going to argue with that, since their “Run the World (Girls)” performance was truly epic; the show almost hailed Channing Tatum the winner, then and there.
After their stage-shattering performance, Tatum said that the Queen texted him. “Hey, I would love to meet you [and Jenna Dewan-Tatum] and hang out when you’re not looking like me… it’s so terrifying.” Who in the world can say no to an invitation from the Queen? Like how MTV puts it, this was the “best part” of Channing Tatum’s story.
Tatum’s one lucky guy. All hail the queen!
