The marriage between Ben Affleck and Jennifer Garner are about to end. On June 30, couple announced they are filing for a divorce, just one day after their anniversary.
The couple issued an emotional statement on the matter which stated, “After much thought and careful consideration, we have made the difficult decision to divorce. We go forward with love and friendship for one another and a commitment to co-parenting our children whose privacy we ask to be respected during this difficult time.”
The couple said that they took a month before making the move. They want the media to respect their privacy and don’t want to comment on the matter anymore.
Ben and Jennifer were married 10 years, and during that time, they had three children. The speculation of a split started months back, and the Daily News reported that they are already living separate lives. This information was leaked by a neighbor who said that Ben and Jenifer are living separately for years.
Ben, 42, and Jennifer, 43, started dating in 2004. They were seen in “Pearl Harbor” (2001) and “Daredevil” (2003). Ben and Jennifer made a gala appearance in the World Series 2004, which was won by Affleck’s team, the Boston Red Sox.
Garner later told USA Today, “If they hadn’t won that year, I don’t think I’d be married with three kids… Because I think I would have been considered a jinx. Boston fans are pretty serious about superstition.” She added, “There’s something about Boston fans, they really think they can control it by what shirt they wear and where they sit — the whole thing.”
They got married in June 2005 and had their first child, Violet Anne, in December 2005. The second child arrived in January 2009, Seraphina Rose, and the third child, Samuel, was born in 2012.
It was the second marriage for Jennifer, who previously married actor Scott Foley. Ben also used to share great chemistry with his previous girlfriend Jennifer Lopez.
