The folks at Beats by Dre, which was recently purchased by Apple, have just released their first pair of wireless earbuds – the Powerbeats2 Wireless.
“To me this product represents the intersection of sports and music,” said Beats president Luke Wood. “This is Beats, superior technology and design with premium sound quality. But most importantly, the Powerbeats² Wireless are designed to serve as a tool for athletes at all fitness levels, whether you’re LeBron James in training or just out for a morning run.”
The first Powerbeats earphones were designed in collaboration with basketball star Lebron James and the Powerbeats2 Wireless carry the same design inspiration targeted toward athletes.
“As one of the co-creators of Powerbeats, I am so proud of how the product continues to evolve and transform the athlete experience with music. There’s nothing else out there that delivers this brand of high quality sound during an intense workout, and these new Powerbeats² Wireless take it to a whole new level,” said NBA all-star LeBron James. “Music is one of my main motivations when I work out, and I know others can relate because music takes people to a different place that inspires more energy and focus. Ultimately, music and athletic performance are one, and through this partnership with Beats, we continue to push that envelope in every way possible.”
The Powerbeats2 Wireless earphones feature a lightweight in-ear design with flexible earhooks for a more secure fit when worn during intense activity. The earphones feature an adjustable flat cable between each earpiece that goes behind the neck when worn. The cable is equipped with a RemoteTalk control module for adjusting volume, changing tracks, or taking calls. The Powerbeats2 is also IPX4 sweat and water resistant, has a 6-hour playback battery life, and is capable of connecting to a Bluetooth-enabled device up to 30 feet away.
The new Powerbeats2 Wireless earphones will be come in three color options – Black, Red, and White – at an SRP of $199.95 and will initially be available at select retailers as well as the Beats by Dre online store in June but will be widely available at all authorized Beats retailers sometime in July 2014.
