Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich are eager to make a final push to extend head coach Pep Guardiola’s contract. There are rumors that the club held talks with Italian Carlo Ancelotti in case the Spaniard refuses to sign a contract extension.
Bayern lost their last Champions League group encounter at Arsenal 2-0, the first defeat the German giants suffered in this season’s tournament. Though the Bayern camp wasn’t shattered by the loss.
“I don’t like to sugarcoat defeats,” Karl-Heinz Rummenigge said, “because there’s nothing beautiful or good about a defeat. But this was a unfortunate defeat, a defeat where the team left the pitch with its head held high.”
Rummenigge is going to make a final push to extend the former Barcelona coach’s contract in the coming week. In this case, even a no answer will be seen as a minor insult.
Bayern now faces FC Köln in their next Bundesliga encounter to extend their nine-match winning streak to ten, which is a record. Even Bayern of 70’s with superstars like Beckenbauer, Gerd Müller and Sepp Maier failed to achieve that.
