Several trailers for “Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice” revealed what the audience can expect for the upcoming clash of heroes from the DC Comics franchise. If that weren’t enough, Ben Affleck, the actor who plays Batman aka Bruce Wayne, has revealed during an interview that the audience will get to see a darker side of his character.
“Batman vs. Superman: Dawn of Justice” will be out in theaters early 2016. Before the official premiere, several trailers for the movie have been released which show a different perspective from how these heroes have been depicted in movies prior to this version. In fact, one of the lead actors revealed an in-depth sneak peek about what Batman will be when he hits the screens this March.
According to Hollywood Reporter, Affleck revealed to Studio Ciné Live that his Batman will be depicted in a different way for “Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice.” He stated, “Christopher Nolan used his Batman to tell a finite story. My version is different, but remains faithful to the Batman mythology and all the themes associated with it.” He added, “Nolan’s Batman isn’t part of a universe where other superheroes exist as well. Here – because we’re working towards the Justice League – there’s Superman, and its world populated with super beings. This situation generates an altogether new reality.”
Affleck acknowledged that previous versions of Batman rarely show the lighter side of his life. The actor revealed that his Batman “play[s] a bit more with the billionaire playboy side of the character. He lives that life at a full tilt. He courts many women, owns many cars, and parties a lot. He does that as a way to fill the void in his soul. Moreover, past incarnations dealt with a straightforward search for justice. This time, Batman’s reasoning is clouded by frustration, bitterness and anger.”
In other news, Screen Crush reports that the movie will showcase new characters that were not yet revealed in previous DC Comics movie adaptations. One of the characters that will be joining Batman and Superman next year is Wonder Woman, played by Gal Gadot. Furthermore, the said movie was reported to be longer than other DC Comics movies that ever hit the screens.
From the revelation of Bruce Wayne’s dark side to the introduction of Wonder Woman in the DC Comics movie franchise, “Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice” will surely have a fresher take for all DC fans around the globe. The said movie will premiere this coming March 25, 2016.
