“Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice” has raised a lot of speculation. According to The Week, the movie may be a big-time flop. The movie has received muted reception in the internal screening, and this has made the studio reconsider the future of their superhero movies.
In spite of being a super-sized superhero movie with more than enough heroes onscreen, the response was not overwhelming.
Drew McWeeny of HitFix mentioned that if the movie does not become a hit, it will affect the release schedule of superhero movies by Warner Bros in the following years. Daily Mail reports that the predictions are 32% in favor of a hit.
McWeeny said, “My guess is what’s going to happen based on what I’m hearing… is Justice League is going to get moved back and that Ben Affleck Batman movie, that’s what’s going to end up in that spot.”
The critic also stated, “They’re going to need to rebuild again, they’re going to need to win people over, [and] they’re going to need to lay some different groundwork. I don’t think this is going to be the springboard into the Justice League that they wanted it to be.”
Nicholas Barber of The Guardian wrote, “In The Dark Knight Rises, Bruce Wayne turned his back on both Batman and Gotham City so he could swan around Florence with Selina Kyle. But in this year’s Batman v Superman, the poor chap is having to squeeze into his rubber suit once again.”
