The suspense involving LeBron James’ status with the Cleveland Cavaliers is finally over after the All-star guard revealed he would be re-signing a $100 million three year deal. The deal was a bit odd since it broke the traditional two-year trend meaning James will only become available by 2019.
Cavs Safe For Now
The development is a welcome news to Cavs fans with James secured at least for the next two seasons. But this early, some have resurrected that celebrated “Banana Boat” picture that included James, Dwyane Wade, Carmelo Anthony and Chris Paul.
Apparently the speculation that these four cagers would at some point reunite is still in the air. James and Wade have won an NBA title and “The Flash” may have just iced his career by getting the proper pay with the Chicago Bulls.
For Anthony and Paul, money has been fulfilled and the only thing missing is an NBA ring. Looking at their respective ballclubs, the New York Knicks and the Los Angeles Clippers, achieving that is not that promising.
Future Fantastic Four?
With the NBA salary caps expected to be tweaked once more next year, 2019 (at the least) could be interesting. Aside from expiring contracts, the four will have aged and likely in the twilight of their careers.
Hence, the looming possibility of seeing these guys bound once again for an NBA title could be possible with adjusted salaries. There will be sacrifices yet again and these will likely fall on Anthony and Paul unless the two are able to snag one in the next two years.
Wade and James would like nothing less than to end their career on a high note, NBA title in mind. It may sound like a crazy idea for now but the whole thing can happen. It only requires the right team to pull the strings together, something that has happened in the past.
