James Cameron, the successful director of Avatar, is going to release not just one but three sequels of the movie. The Avatar 2 release date is expected to be around Christmas 2017.
The Avatar 2 release date may already be fixed, but there is no confirmation about the dates for the other two movies.
James mentioned in an interview, “I tell my artists, ‘Hey, make sure we’re not ignoring what they’ve done.’ Why wouldn’t it be a creative feedback loop? They fed on our designs. There are a few things I liked in the costume design. So it’s nice for me to see how other people interpret the Na’vi world and the world of Pandora.”
While talking about the Avatar 2 release date, James Cameron said, “Christmas of ’17 is the target. At least, that’s what we’ve announced. But I don’t consider that to be as important as the fact that when we get all three films done, we drop them a year apart.”
He also mentioned, “It’s been about a two-year task. (We’ve finished) all the creatures and the landscapes, and the new worlds within the world of Pandora that you see. The writing is ongoing, but almost finished. Technical development is done. Stages are done. Infrastructure. So we’re really poised to start after the first of the year.”
Avatar 2 will have connection to Cirque de Soleil’s Toruk, a story developed 3,000 years prior to Avatar. It will be an interesting portrayal on the 3D screen. What do you think would be the impact of the future sequel? Is the Avatar 2 release date too far? Let us know with your comments.
