Apple has introduced the iPhone 6S and iPhone 6S Plus; and guess what? It comes in pink, or rose gold, which is the smartphone’s official color. Also introduced in the September 9 product launch event were the ‘monster iPad’ – the iPad Pro – Apple TV and new colors and straps for the Apple Watch.
The iPhone 6S and iPhone 6S Plus will be available in three more colors – silver, gold, and space gray. Apple fans will be able to preorder their phones starting September 12, 2015.
The most attractive feature of iPhone 6S and iPhone 6S Plus is the 3D Touch Feature.
As reported by AL.com, Apple’s Phil Schiller said, “3D Touch is a tremendous breakthrough.”
Apple CEO Tim Cook said, “While they may look the same, we have changed everything about the new iPhone.” Sir Jonathan Ive said, “Along with traditional gestures, the iPhone now recognises force.”
A new ‘peek’ menu has also been introduced, which comes when one pushes down the screen. The camera has been upgraded to a 12 megapixel iSight camera that enhances picture quality, and allows 4K video recording. Apple has also taken care of selfie-clicking, with a 5-megapixel front camera, which uses the display screen as flash.
The ‘monster iPad’ – officially called iPad Pro – has a 12.9-inch screen and was the first to be unveiled at the event. “iPad is the clearest expression of our vision of the future of personal computing,” Cook said. “We asked ourselves how we can take it further – and we have the biggest news in Pad since the iPad.”
According to Daily Mail, the iPad will have 5.6 million pixels, which is significantly more than the 15-inch MacBook Pro with Retina Display. Dimension-wise, iPad’s width is more or less the same as the iPad Air, and only slightly thicker than iPad Air 2 – iPad Pro is 6.9 mm in thickness, while the later is 6.1 mm. The iPad Pro also features the new A9X chip, said to be 1.8 times faster than iPad Air 2’s A8X chip. But what’s most mind blowing is that according to Schiller iPad Pro is 80 percent faster than the PCs – graphics are 90-percent faster – that have been shipped in the last six months.
A new TV Box was also the highlight of the product launch event. It features a ‘Siri’ button to make it easier for users to search for content using their voice. The content will be searched across a range of apps – such as Netflix, HBO and iTunes, among others – and also features a multiplayer version of the game Cross Road and a Major League Baseball app that offers live feeds.
“It really is the golden age of television – but the experience hasn’t changed much in decades,’ said Tim Cook. “Today, we are going to do something about that. “Our version for TV is simple and a little provocative – we believe the future is apps.”
With Apple’s iPhones changing with every upgrade, more users are using them for watching videos or reading. This has significantly made the use of tablets redundant. A study conducted by Pocket found that the usage of tablets, among users who upgraded to iPhone 6 Plus, has lowered by as much as 36 percent.
