Apple Launches Guidelines For Third-party Apple Watch Bands

Apple has just begun offering a brand new program that will allow third-party developers of accessories to design Apple Watch bands. The new program, called “Made for Apple Watch,” will make use of the smartwatch’s capability to connect to different kinds of straps through a connector on both sides of the Watch.

“Made for Apple Watch” has been debuted on a new website, where Apple provides guidelines for band developers.

9to5Mac has even featured a new collection of leathers and battery packs. The site also mentions that part of the guidelines do not explain the “hidden diagnostic ports” developers have been looking forward to make the most of.

Creators of the bands will need to make sure that the straps fit well, and that the face of the Apple Watch must come in contact with the skin in order for the heart sensor to continue working (despite a few reported problems for the said feature).

For now, interested individuals can read the requirements on the new program’s website.
