Several Hollywood stars have been the subject of death hoax lately and Angelina Jolie and Jaden Smith have been among the most recent victims.
What could have been the motive behind these malicious reports?
With the case of the 41-year-old “Lara Croft: Tomb Raider” star, it was alleged that the cheating rumors hurled at her husband Brad Pitt might have pushed her to end her life this month.
Somehow, the alleged cause of death of the 18-year-old son of Will Smith and Jada Pinkett Smith was similar to that of Angelina Jolie’s as well. Accordingly, her girlfriend Sarah Snyder cheated on him.
Looking at these scenarios, were they really desperate that the only solution they saw to address their problem is to kill themselves? As with the death hoax involving the “Salt” actress, it was alleged that she even left a suicide video detailing her reason.
However, when Facebook users would click on the link, they will be redirected to a page that asks permission to post on their behalf.
With the headline “CNN Video Footage: Angelina Jolie Says Goodbye to Her Fans and to Brad Pitt Before Doing This Suicidal,” internet users will really be curious about its content, Snopes reported. The report pointed out that it is clearly a false claim.
Back in July, Snopes called out a report alleging that Jaden Smith committed suicide. The site stressed that the “Karate Kid” actor is still very much alive. In fact, he even posted a photo of him on social media on July 27.
As “clickbait” dead stories continue to proliferate, the latest of which have affected Angelina Jolie and Jaden Smith. The recent death hoax proved to be a reminder that everyone should be wary of what they believe in, especially that some of these may infect your computers with malware or put your identity at risk.
