The OnePlus One has been around for quite some time now and most are focused on the successors. The OnePlus 3 has so far disappointed leaving the OnePlus 2 as the reliable choice.
With the OnePlus 3 gaining its share of hardware issues and unreasonable hikes, OnePlus has been left scratching their heads. Hence, most are now trying to make the most out of their devices and the OnePlus One still technically stands out.
The latest tinkering on the OnePlus One comes in the form of NucleaRom. The ROM comes from TeamNuclear offering a firmware with new tweaks. The new NucleaRom software is based on the CyanogenMod CM13 Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow series.
Among the improvements that owners can look forward to include the following from Neurogadget:
- Gesture Options
- Performance improved tweaks
- Quick Lockscreen unlock feature
- Exclusive NucleaRom theme-based booting option
- CyanogenMod CM 13 series themes.
- Network traffic indicator.
Only Applicable to the Bacon Models
While the NucleaRom seems promising, it would be best to take note of the prerequisites. The ROM can only be installed on “Bacon Models”. There is word that the firmware may end up ‘bricking’ other versions so it is best to identify your handset before proceeding.
Steps to Install NucleaRom
Assuming OnePlus One owners have checked the version of their devices, it would be best to back up any data just in case. Afterwards, to the following:
1. NucleaRom Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow which can be downloaded here.
2. Google Apps which can be downloaded here.
3. USB drive available here.
Once those are done, users need to connect their OnePlus One units to their desktop. Copy the downloaded NucleaRom to the device’s storage memory.
From there, turn off the device first and disconnect it from the desktop. Turn it on and enter “Recovery Mode.” This can be done by pressing volume down + the power button.
Clear the memory with the “Wipe” option and swipe to “Factory Reset.” Return to the main menu and install the copied NucleaRom zip file by selecting the “Confirm Flash.”
Installation will follow in a while and reboot your device. Upon boot, NucleaRom Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow custom should be up and running.
