A clean-cut, 18-year old boy, Ryan Beard walked in on “America’s Got Talent” 2016 and had all the ladies swooning over him! His secret – he was homeschooled!
What was meant to be merely a humorous song that played on the irony and hilarious aspects of homeschooling, turned into an almost stand-up comedy act, with the entry of Ryan Beard, a homeschooled teenager from Kansas City.
The conversation between Ryan and Simon, the led up to his performance, made the choice of his song sound even more incredulous.
After establishing the fact that he still lives with his parents and was homeschooled, Ryan proceeded to describe the “perks” of being homeschooled.
When Simon asked him if he liked being homeschooled, Ryan replied in a mocking tone, “Oh, how could I not love having my parents there 24/7?”
Howie had a very pertinent question – “What is the prom like?”
“You know you dim the lights, my younger brother comes in, and slow dance the night away,” replied Ryan in between fits of laughter.
The funny and ironical replies did not stop there. When asked by Simon if being homeschooled helped Ryan in scoring with girls, Ryan looked thoroughly bemused. “Did being homeschooled help me with girls… umm not exactly, no.”
Ryan also drew a sympathetic “aww” from the audience, especially the ladies, when he informed the judges that he did not have a girlfriend, reports 2Paragraphs. And that, in fact, he never had one in the past!
The cherry on the cake was served at the end when Ryan mentioned that the song he was going to perform was called “Ladies’ Man”, which was his original piece. This cracked up the judges and all the ladies present in the audience gave him a standing ovation prior to his performance!
With lyrics befitting his homeschooling situation, Ryan managed to keep the audience entertained throughout his performance.
In other news, Nick Cannon’s Golden Buzzer is still up for grabs as no contestant managed to score it in this week’s ‘America’s Got Talent’ 2016 auditions, as Cartermatt rightly points out. Maybe someone from the next week can be lucky enough?
