The Philippines’ most talked about love team, ALDUB, is to break new records for their “Tamang Panahon” concert show at the world’s biggest indoor arena, Philippine Arena.
People have started lining up as early 4AM, according to tweets to Morning News USA, to watch the now-world-famous ALDUB (A combination of the syllables of the screen names, Alden Richards and Yaya Dub.)
The tickets, which were released earlier this week, were sold within two days. All 55,000 of them were gone within days. All proceeds were to be donated to libraries and those affected by the recent typhoon, locally named, Lando, just last week.
In their opening spiel, the Kalye’s Angels (Street Angels) said they have earned almost 44 million pesos.
It can be recalled that their hash tag, #ALDubEBforLOVE, broke internet record with 25.6 million tweets on September 26. The record bested even the tweets for Super Bowl XLIV and the Video Music Awards where Kanye West announced his presidential bid for the next election.
The love team is an offshoot of Eat Bulaga’s (locally translated as peek-a-boo) mini TV series, Kalye Serye (Street Series) and instantly became popular to their viewers because of the unique plot and love story that also attempts at teaching the youth today to wait for love at the right time. Hence, they called their concert “Tamang Panahon” (Right Time).
Twitter users who watched the concert at the Philippine Arena are part of the “Team Arena.” There were also some group watching in different locations all over the Philippines and the world. One Twitter user sent Morning News USA a photo of their group watching event in Dubai.
Users who tweeted their situation to Morning News USA said almost everyone was standing. @janeybuena tweeted “Hindi po kailangan ng ALDUBNation ng upuan!!! Lahat nakatayo!!!” (ALDUBNation doesn’t need seats!!! Everyone was standing!!!”
Everyone is waiting for the number of tweets this event will generate. Supports from the Philippines and abroad have poured in. As of press time, the hash tag #ALDubEBTamangPanahon is number one on Twitter worldwide.
