‘AlDub’ First Anniversary Gets ‘NBA Finals,’ ‘Game Of Thrones’ Treatment

The Philippines’ most popular love team of Alden Richards and Maine Mendoza, together known as AlDub, is a worldwide hit. Even Twitter joined in the celebration of their first anniversary.

As they enjoy their first year together, at least on TV amid the fans’ clamor to see them developing a real life romance, Alden Richards and Maine Mendoza of “Eat Bulaga Kalyeserye” get a tribue from US-based social networking site Twitter, GMA Network reported.

According to their home network, starting noon of July 16, whoever types the hashtag #AlDub1stAnniversary, gets a special emoji for the occasion –  two hands forming a heart. Amazing, considering Twitter only does this for NBA Finals, “Game of Thrones,” and the airing of Marvel movies.

The pair, whose on-screen chemistry has won the hearts of many, may have never expected that their tandem would reach this far, to the point that they have been a trending topic on social networking sites whenever they reach a certain milestone. Remember the first chance they have to meet each other personally? Folks here in the United States even wondered who they are!

While fans get addicted to their split-screen romance on Philippine TV’s noontime show “Eat Bulaga,” the AlDub love team is finally celebrating their first anniversary – a proof that they have withstand the intrigues and maintained their appeal to the public.

It can be recalled that on Oct. 24, the 24-year-old actor and 21-year-old actress broke world records when the hashtag #AlDubEBTamangPanahon (roughly translated as #AldubEBRightTiming) became a trending topic with 41 million tweets on that day alone.

The first anniversary of AlDub was also marked with the release of their second movie but first solo starrer, “Imagine You & Me,” on July 13.

In an interview with The Philippine Star, their second big screen project director Mike Tuviera described the duo’s success as their “destiny.”

“I don’t want to sound corny but (Alden and Maine) are the embodiment of the word ‘destiny.’ If something’s fated, it really happens,” Tuviera declared. “Things just happen to the two of them that they end up going towards each other.”

Keep posted for more AlDub updates since we know that there is more in store for them after their first anniversary.
