7-Year-Old Boy Among Three Family Members Killed In Ohio Shooting

A man fatally shot a couple and their 7-year-old daughter in their Columbus, Ohio, home Monday. Their 12-year-old daughter was injured in the incident.

A couple and their 7-year-old son were killed when a man fatally shot the family in their Columbus, Ohio, home Monday. The couple’s 12-year-old daughter was wounded in the incident as well.

A short chase after the suspect, identified as Barry Kirk, ran away from the scene of the crime led to him being gunned down by three officers responding to the incident. It has not been determined what instigated the shooting in the Hilltop neighborhood on the city’s west side, as reported by ABC News.

Officers responding to the shooting report saw Kirk and, after a foot chase, shot him. Columbus police Sgt. Rich Weiner said a firearm had been discovered near Kirk. “I don’t know if this was a home invasion, if he was let into the house, if they knew the suspect,” Weiner said. “That’s all of the questions that the investigator is going to be asking.”

Police found the dead victims after they went inside the home after shooting the suspect.

Fox News reports that Dispatch identified the couple as John E. Anderson II and Christina Chaffin Anderson, and the son as Landon Anderson. The injured daughter has been identified as Makyleigh Anderson.

A neighbor of the Andersons, Jeff Brown, described John as a “good kid.”

“[John] don’t get into trouble,” Brown said. “He don’t bother nobody. He just raised his family. And now he’s gone.”
