This is the 2nd nomination for “Transparent” in the category of “Outstanding Comedy Series” at the 68th Emmy awards.
Even though “Transparent” has never bagged an Emmy in this particular category before, it has won 6 Emmy awards over the years, including one this year in the category “Outstanding Production Design For A Narrative Program (Half-Hour Or Less)”.
It has also been nominated for “Outstanding Guest Actor In A Comedy Series”, “Outstanding Guest Actress In A Comedy Series”, “Outstanding Lead Actor In A Comedy Series”, “Outstanding Supporting Actress In A Comedy Series”, “Outstanding Casting For A comedy Series”, “Outstanding Costumes In A Contemporary Series, Limited Series Or Movie” and “Outstanding Directing For A Comedy Series”, reports Emmy.
“Transparent” is up against comedy series such as “Black-ish” (ABC), “Master Of None” (Netflix), “Modern Family” (ABC), “Silicon Valley” (HBO), “Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt” (Netflix), and “Veep” (HBO), reports Emmy.
The story of “Transparent” revolves around the Pfefferman family, which comprises of the mother Shelly (Judith Light), the transgender father Maura (JeffreyTambor), and their three children, Sarah (Amy Landecker), Ali (Gaby Hoffman) and Josh (Jay Duplass).
The series has just completed its second season, with the plot growing more unconventional by the episode. Even though the family tries to act like every other traditional family in the society, it miserably fails to do so every time.
All the family members have a distinctively weird personality and that is what holds the novelty of the show alive. According to Entertainment Weekly, the unconventional approach of the show makes it more relatable to the viewers, making it one of the more popular comedy dramas on television.
According to Gold Derby, “Transparent” has the best chance of winning the Emmy for best comedy series of the lot. The only series which comes close to beating it is “Veep”.
