“Top Chef” has been nominated for the outstanding reality competition program for the 68th Emmy Awards. In the Bravo TV show, 12 top chefs compete for the coveted title of top chef.
The other contenders for Outstanding Reality Competition Program include The Voice, The Amazing Race, Project Runway, Dancing With The Stars, and American Ninja Warrior. Top Chef which started on Bravo TV in 2006 completed its 13th season in March 2016, according to a profile from Wikipedia.
Top Chef has been renewed for a 14th season, which will take place Charleston, South Carolina, Bravo reports. In each episode, the chefs participate in a Quickfire Challenge and an Elimination Challenge.
Contestants are judged by a panel of food and wine experts. The winner of the Quickfire Challenge is granted immunity from elimination, a prize, or another benefit for the following Elimination Challenge.
The loser is eliminated from the competition. Top Chef is presented by Padma Lakshmi who is also one of the executive producers of the series.
In Season 13, Jeremy Ford emerged as the winner. The single dad originally from Jacksonville, Florida returned to his job as Chef de Cuisine at Matador Room in Miami following the big win, Bravo also reported.
The 68th Primetime Emmy Awards will be held on Sunday, Sep.18 at the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles, California. It will be broadcast live in the U.S. by ABC.
The Emmy Awards will be preceded by the Creative Arts Emmy Awards, which will air on September 17.
