68th Emmy Awards: ‘Inside Amy Schumer’ Outstanding Variety Sketch Series – Facts You Need To Know

Will “Inside Amy Schumer” get an additional Outstanding Variety Sketch Series trophy at the 68th Emmy Awards?

In last year’s Emmys, the sketch comedy television series was successful in bringing home the top prize in the said category. For this year’s run of the award-giving event, the show has been nominated again.

Do you think it will be successful in toppling over “Documentary Now!,” “Key &  Peele,”  “Drunk History,” “Saturday Night Live” and “Portlandia” in the said category at the 68th Emmy Awards?

In an article for the Irish Times, Louise O’Neill, author of “Asking for It” and “Only Ever Yours,” has cited a number of reasons why he was smitten by the charm and brilliance of the 35-year-old American stand-up comedian, writer, actress and producer.

While he noted that comedy has always been considered as a “male-centric” genre, he pointed out that the 68th Emmy Awards’ nominee has been successful in breaking that notion.

“From Tina Fey and Amy Poehler to Kate McKinnon and Kristen Wiig, women comics have begun to dominate the headlines, but none has made such a visceral impact as Amy Schumer,” O’Neill said.

“The show, with its skits featuring an exaggerated version of ‘Amy,’ was perfectly placed to take advantage of the YouTube generation’s predilection for short videos that could be easily shared on social media,” he continued to comment about the star of the 68th Emmy Awards’ nominee.

Aside from the Outstanding Variety Sketch Series category, the “Inside Amy Schumer” was also among the nominees for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Comedy Series, Outstanding Writing – Variety Series and Outstanding Directing – Variety Series for Ryan McFaul in the Creative Arts Emmy Award.

It can be recalled that Gold Derby already hinted about the sure win of the “Inside Amy Schumer” director for the “Madonna/Whore” episode even before the announcement on Sunday.

The report dished that 10 out of 18 industry experts voted for him as the winner for the Outstanding Directing – Variety Series category.
