Zynga Founder Mark Pincus Returns, Don Mattrick Steps Down
Zynga is all set to get founder Mark Pincus back on board in an effort to experience another success story. Farmville, which Zynga had developed, was a massive success, yet no other title has become as successful as the latter in the past few years.
With the return of the Zynga founder, current Chief Executive Officer Don Mattrick will be stepping down immediately.
Mark Pincus guided the company to its current glory when Farmville became a smash hit in 2009. He expects to repeat the same, but this time around, he would use a different strategy. Pincus has made it clear to that he and Mattrick agreed that it’s time to shift gears, resulting to the announcement.
Don Mattrick, former executive of Xbox, was appointed in 2013. He soon understood that another Facebook game similar to Farmville will not become successful again, as people have moved towards mobile gaming.
According to released data, Zynga has shown a loss of $225.9m in 2014 compared to $37m in 2013. The good news for the company is that with Mark Pincus returning, share prices went up by 3%.
