Earlier, Doctor Strange director Scott Derrickson revealed that Christopher Nolan’s Inception inspired him while directing the Marvel Multi-verse movie. However, Zack Snyder has also indirectly revealed his inspiration.
A recent tweet by Motion Picture Arts reveal a quote by Snyder. The director spoke about John Boorman’s style in Excalibur. He said, “[Boorman] he’s one of those rare guys who combines drama and being a visualist.”
Snyder added, “It’s as if it takes place in no particular time in history. Like it’s another planet in some ways.” Check out the entire quote in the image below.
Since then, fans have been discussing on Reddit and social media about Snyder’s filming similarities with John Boorman’s Excalibur. Furthermore, fans are debating that Zack Snyder’s Watchmen, Man of Steel, and Batman v Superman were inspired from the 1981 movie.
Excalibur was well-appreciated for its plot. The film was directed, produced, and co-written by Boorman himself.
Currently, Snyder is in the process of directing the Justice League movie. Although his style of filming for the film remains the same, it was revealed that Geoff Johns and Ben Affleck made some significant rewrites to the script. Furthermore, Johns was appointed by Warner Bros. to watch over the upcoming DCEU titles as well. Justice League will be released on November 17, 2017.
