After several rumors that has been going about, Zach Galligan finally confirmed the coming of “Gremlins 3” on screens soon. With the first installment’s writer, Chris Colombus, as the producer for the film, the thirty-year sleep of the movie will be reinvented for the latest installment.
As reported by E! Online, Zach Galligan appeared at the Prince Charles Cinema in London last week and announced that, indeed, after thirty years of sleep, the “Gremlins” will be back on screens. He stated that the upcoming “Gremlins 3” is not going to be a reboot but the same character will be involved.
“Gremlins 3” has lodged for a producer, Chris Colombus, who was also the scriptwriter for the first installment of the franchise. Furthermore, Galligan revealed that he will most definitely want a part on the newest addition to the franchise. During an interview with Slashfilm last April, Colombus revealed, “We were approached with an idea that really sounded like an interesting version. It’s not a remake of the movie at all…it’s just a reinvention of it.”
When asked about the production and its producer, Galligan said, “Chris Columbus has come out and said that the first film is very near and dear to his heart and as long as he is alive it will never be remade. So the only thing they will be, and apparently are going to be doing, is something along the lines of like Jurassic World, where it will be 30 years later.”
In other reports, Entertainment Weekly noted, the last of the Gremlins was during 1990, when “Gremlins 2: The New Batch” showed which showcased the acting talents of Hulk Hogan as well.
With reference to previous Gremlins installments, Galligan stated, “All of the elements from the first, at least the first Gremlins movie—Chris Columbus didn’t really have much to do with the second Gremlins movie, so I don’t know how he feels about that—but all of the things and events that happened in the first one will be referred to.”
Columbus also shared his idea on what has become of the sequel in his eyes while making the new one and he responded, “Because the first movie’s very dear to my heart… It’s the same universe, the same rules, same gremlins, but not the same.”
Currently, Warner Bros., the production company responsible for “Gremlins 3” the comeback, are currently on the process of bringing the original cast back into the screens yet again.
