Thanks to an erroneous post by Sony, game enthusiasts now expect Yakuza 5 to be included in the PlayStation Plus free games lineup for August 2016.
Sony offers free games to PS Plus subscribers each month. This July, subscribers on PS4 can download Furi and Saints Row: Gat Out of Hell. PS3 owners can get Fat Princess and Call of Juarez: Bound in Blood, while PS Vita users can grab Oreshika: Tainted Bloodlines and Prince of Persia: Revelations.
The aforementioned titles were revealed in the last week of June. However, PlayStation Store Europe accidentally posted Yakuza 5 as one of the free games on PS3. The gaffe remained unnoticed for days, allowing some PS3 owners to freely download the game.
Needless to say, the blunder has renewed fan interest for the 2012 open world action-adventure crime game. Many expect Sony to make up for the tease by officially offering the game for free in August. PS3 owners who can’t wait to play Yakuza 5 can download the game right now, but they have to lighten their wallets to do so.
The Bitbag reported that Yakuza 5 is currently available on PlayStation Store. PS3 owners can purchase the game for $40. The price point is relatively steep because Yakuza 5 was just released in North America and Europe on December 8, 2015. The PS3-exclusive initially released in Japan on December 6, 2012.
Game Spot reviewer Miguel Concepcion scored the English version of Yakuza 5 a solid 8 out of 10. He lauded the game for its magnificent plot, vibrant locales and overabundance of side activities. The only nitpick he had for the game was that it’s combat system was already a bit dated.
