Xiaomi is set to create history by launching its first smartphone in the United States. The company’s decision to launch Xiaomi Mi 5 at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) next week suggests that the Chinese manufacturer is ready to appear globally. Ever since the phone leaked in several reports, it has been the subject of speculations. A new leak indicates the latest updates about the phone features.
While several reports, renders and benchmark listings popped up in the media from time to time, there were conflicting rumors about the Mi5, making it confusing to find the exact specs. However, an event was held recently where official slides of the Xiaomi Mi 5 were showcased, which revealed the actual features of the phone, reports GSM Arena.
According to the presentation, the Mi 5 will have a 5.15-inch screen with 1080P and 1920×1080 display resolution. It will come with a 16MP rear camera with possibly a full HD screen, although previous rumors suggested optical image stabilization (OIS) for the screen. Contradicting previous rumors about the 3,600mAH battery, the Mi 5 will apparently come with a 3,000mAH battery. The larger number is reportedly reserved for the bigger Mi 5 Plus model. Also, a type-C USB port is expected with the phone for wired connectivity.
Additionally, the phone will be fuelled by Snapdragon 64-bit quad-core SoC processor set at 2.15GHz. Meanwhile, reports suggest that the phone will have support for near-field communication technology (NFC) and dual-SIM functionality. Another defining feature would be 4G LTE connectivity on the phone.
Till now, there is no confirmation on the phone’s internal storage capacity, RAM and the phone’s dimensions. However, there are hints of a fingerprint scanner and a physical home button in the reports. Android Headlines further notes that the Xiaomi Mi 5 will come in two variants- glass and metal variant and all-metal variant. In one of our earlier reports, we had mentioned in details about the Mi 5 variants, their specs and features.
