It is a taking a while for Android manufacturers like Xiaomi to bring the Android 6.0 Marshmallow update to its devices. Nonetheless, the company has not stopped seeding the update.
According to Neurogadget, Xiaomi is in the process of updating its Xiaomi Mi 3 and Mi Note series to Android 6.0 Marshmallow whereas the newer unit, the Xiaomi Mi 4, is seeding to Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow globally. The devices were originally running on several version of Android Kitkat so the Marshmallow update should be good news.
Specifically, Xiaomi has now announced that the global beta release of the ROM (v6.3.17) Mi 3, Mi 4, and Mi Note are now available. According to NDTV, the update comes following the release of the stable release of the Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow-based MIUI ROM (v7.2.8) in China for the same handsets mentioned.
To clarify, the MIUI Global Beta ROM 6.3.17 is different from the MIUI China ROM because it offers built-in Google Mobile services including Google Play app store access. Previously, Xiaomi seeded the MIUI 7.1 global stable build for a number of devices back in January 2016. Depending on the device, the update comes with either Android KitKat or Android Lollipop features.
As with other updates, users must confirm with their regional units and networks on the final schedule of release. Access may be delayed depending on the region. All units for update should also be connected to a reliable Wi-Fi or cellular connection with the units preferably fully charged.
Some of the standout features include better Permission Manager, account lock after flashing phone in Mi Cloud – Find device, download shortcuts and Explorer hidden folders among others.
