The second wave of Xbox One Games With Gold titles for October 2016 is now available for download. They are The Escapists and I Am Alive.

Gold subscribers on Xbox One can download The Escapists for free from October 16 to November 15. The Xbox One backwards compatible version of I Am Alive will be available from October 16 to 31.

Express noted that Super Mega Baseball: Extra Innings will continue to be a free download until October 31. The batting game was the first Xbox One Games With Gold title to be offered free for the month of October.

In The Escapists, players take on the role of an ambitious inmate whose main objective is to escape prison. The strategy RPG is played from a top-down perspective, ala classic Pokémon games.

Players acquire and craft tools which will be pivotal for their escape. They must also run errands for their fellow detainees to improve standing as well as their likelihood of escape.

The primary antagonists in the game are snappy prison guards who are serious about their work. They frequently search prison cells and punish misfits with solitary confinement if caught.

“Despite its foibles, The Escapists is a gratifying game that provides dozens of hours of entertainment,” said Game Spot reviewer Cameron Woolsey. “Planning an escape and watching it unfold is endlessly satisfying, and a successful breakout leaves you feeling jubilant.”

As its name implies, I Am Alive is a post-apocalyptic survival game from a third person point of view. It first released on Xbox 360, PS3 and Microsoft Windows in 2012.

The dystopian thriller stars a male survivor who goes to his old home to save his wife and daughter. What greeted him at their apartment was not what he expected.

Gameplay consists of climbing and exploration. Players can collect hidden resources which can be used to salvage the ruined city or rescue more survivors.
