What's This?

The WWE found itself with a slightly depleted roster with most stars headed to Hawaii for a series of shows. But based on WWE Smackdown spoilers, the creative team was able to come up with at least three good matches, particularly the main event pitting WWE heavyweight champion Dean Ambrose against Intercontinental champion, The Miz.

Fatal Four Way to Determine No. 1 Contender to US Title

WWE Smackdown spoilers revealed four individuals competed in a Fatal Four Way with the winner getting a shot at Rusev’s United States title. The four combatants included Cesaro, Sheamus, Apollo Crews and Alberto Del Rio.

Cesaro overcame his three adversaries but got some extra beating from Sheamus, who refused to accept defeat. With the “Swiss Superman” battered, Rusev took advantage of the situation and asked for the title defense to commence. With Cesaro still feeling the effects of the Fatal Four-Way and Sheamus’ attack, Rusev, as expected, came out the win to retain his title.

Two Women’s Division Matches Held

With a dilapidated roster, there were two women’s division matches for the night according to the Bleacher Report. One match saw Dana Brooke pull out a win over a debuting Billie Kay from WWE NXT.

On the other hand, Sasha Banks got one over Summer Rae. Summer Rae ended up facing Banks when original match with Becky Lynch was cancelled thanks to Natalya.

The Wyatt Family Present

The Wyatt Family were in attendance though they took on a couple of local fighters. Braun Strowman and Erick Rowan thrashed their opponents, pretty much in the same fashion that Enzo and Big Cass took of business on Monday Night Raw.

Champion vs. Champion

The main event saw WWE heavyweight champion Dean Ambrose square off against Intercontinental champion The Miz. The showdown was a result of an earlier altercation on Miz TV according to Wrestling Inc. The match was a non-title match with Dean Ambrose winning over the Miz. Ambrose was able to get payback for the attacks the latter made during the show’s earlier segment.
