Each time the WWE holds its annual spectacle WrestleMania, there are surprise personalities normally cast or invited to witness it. Could Brendan Dassey get the chance to see his wrestling idols up and close after being in jail all this time?
Thanks to the Netflix program Making a Murder, fans are pretty much aware of the life of Dassey, including his fondness of the WWE. Along with his uncle, Dassey was accused of killing and raping photographer Teresa Halbach back in 2005.
Dassey and Avery served separate life sentences for the first-degree intentional homicide of Halbach. Being only 16 at the time of the incident, there is growing belief that Brendan was coerced in the whole incident.
Because of that, the US District Court in Milwaukee has reportedly overturned the conviction. Dassey may be freed in 90 days unless the prosecutors move to retry him.
Fans want to reward Dassey with WrestleMania 33
So how does Dassey end up being linked to WrestleMania 33? Apparently he is a big fan of wrestling. A notable sequence was during his conviction where he lamented missing WrestleMania 22. Headlining the event that year was Triple H vs. John Cena.
Dassey has missed a lot of WrestleMania events though he is likely aware of the new faces that are now in tow. Looking back at 2005, there were a lot of icons in the business that have gone on to retire.
Either way, a possible ticket to WrestleMania 33 and see his idols up and close should be rewarding. And thanks to a dedicated group who believe that Dassey had no hand in the murder, a petition could just be the retribution he may get. The petition on change.org can be found here.
Before all that, Dassey needs to be officially scott-free. The decision to overturn his case came just last Friday so the countdown for any retry has started.
