WWE SummerSlam 2016 happens on August 21 and so far, a big match pitting Brock Lesnar against Randy Orton has been announced. The match between the two WWE icons is seen as a fitting follow-up following “Beast Incarnate’s” big win at UFC 200 over Mark Hunt.
Word of that match came out a couple of days ago via WWE.com though it will be interesting what other cards Vince McMahon and company have up their sleeve. Dean Ambrose, Seth Rollins, Roman Reigns and AJ Styles are shoe-ins but how about John Cena?
John Cena vs. Undertaker?
John Cena is likely to be in one of the WWE SummerSlam 2016 matches with a likely carryover of his present feud with AJ Styles and “The Club”. But Wrestling News World is hinting at a bigger match involving the “Cenation” leader going up against the “Undertaker”.
Though there is still time to make that happen, it will be interesting if it materializes. Knowing the caliber of both WWE icons, a big match like that could be best saved for bigger events like WrestleMania.
There were rumored plans of a John Cena vs. Undertaker match at Wrestlemania 32. Those plans never materialized since Cena was coming off a shoulder injury. Instead, the “Dead Man” found himself facing Shane McMahon in brutal Hell in a Cell, match which he won as expected.
Since then, the Undertaker has been silently out of the limelight with many speculating that his WrestleMania 32 match was his last. Nothing has been made official so the “Dead Man” is still an active WWE star in principle.
As far as seeing Cena and Undertaker at SummerSlam, Hollywood Life begs to differ. While SummerSlam is a big event, the logical bet is to see the two future Hall of Famers meeting at WrestleMania 33.
Anything can still change from here but when John Cena and Undertaker are mentioned, Vince McMahon and most would prefer to see that go down in the biggest annual stage of the WWE.
