The WWE has been pulling out all the stops to add more talent, bodies that will help hold up Raw, Smackdown and NXT. A number of names have cropped up recently, a mix of old and new names.
Among the old names mentioned include Shelton Benjamin and MVP, aged but proven stars in the WWE circle. New faces already made their way into the mix months back like AJ Styles, Karl Anderson, Luke Gallows and Shinsuke Nakamura. All are former New Japan Pro Wrestling standouts and have since doing well.
With the recent brand split, the WWE has been trying to balance their available manpower. While Raw and SmackDown come into mind, NXT is also taking a hit. Stars like Finn Balor and Nia Jax have been bumped to the main roster, leaving big holes for the developmental circuit.

One name has cropped up, Roderick Strong. The 33-year-old is a former Ring of Honor (ROH) champion and recently cut ties with the company. He spent 13 years there but also had stints in TNA.
With Strong now a free agent, the Wrestling Observer hints that the Strong could be primed for a WWE stint soon. He is believed to be one of the new faces joining the NXT brand.
A ‘Strong’ Addition
Seeing that Strong is a former champion and someone who has a name in the wrestling scene, critics feel that he will be a good addition. He will likely feud with Samoa Joe for the NXT title at some point. For now, it will be interesting how he will be introduced.
If all goes well, Strong may one day be elevated to either Raw or SmackDown. That will all depend on his performance and how the current stars for all WWE brands are performing.
If Strong’s star rises in the same way it did at ROH, it may only be a matter of time before he joins the cast of upstarts pegged to jack up the WWE’s stock.
