Paige will be undergoing neck surgery though questions on whether the former WWE Divas champion really requires it is in the air. The procedure was initially seen as optional so the decision of Paige to undergo the surgery has somehow cast questions.
As mentioned in a previous post, Paige is expected to miss some time. Seeing however that she is under a 60-day suspension for a second offense to the WWE talent wellness policy, the timing couldn’t have been perfect. She will be out for up to 7 months at the minimum meaning she is not expected to be back until the Spring of 2017, TMZ reported.
Alberto Del Rio Stands Up For Paige
Despite the question on Paige’s decision to undergo neck surgery, boyfriend, and former WWE star Alberto Del Rio stood up and took a jab at the WWE via Twitter.
Del Rio seemingly took exceptions at jabs that Paige wasn’t really hurt, pointing out a c6-c7 disc herniation pushing on the exit of the C7 nerve root, causing pain to her upper extremities, Wrestlingnews.co reported.
Who picks the tab?
Paige is set to undergo surgery this Wednesday where the same physician who worked on Tyson Kidd will perform the procedure. But the question now is who would pay for the surgery on Paige’s neck.
There is no official word on whether the WWE would pick up the tab. The WWE reportedly pays for surgeries only if they are performed by a WWE doctor. Unless both sides came to a previous understanding, this is one issue that could lead to another legal technicality for the WWE.
The issue is expected to die down for now though it would be best to take note of the second suspension of Paige. Another suspension would lead to her release even if Paige claims otherwise. Will she follow Del Rio out of the WWE fold after 6 to 9 months?
