What's This?

WWE Backlash happens this Sunday with champion Dean Ambrose putting his title on the line against AJ Styles.

In what looks a lot like a match that would see Ambrose coming out the winner, critics are not ruling out a surprise win by Styles. Many see the “Phenomenal One” eventually becoming champion though the matter of when is in the air.

Critics gave their various take via PWInsider Elite, offering different scenarios on the match. Still and all, Ambrose is expected to walk out of WWE Backlash as the champion with possibly some twists on the storylines.

Aside from the Ambrose vs. Styles clash, there are other matches worth checking out. Two new championships will be awarded – the SmackDown WWE Championship and the SmackDown Tag Team champions.

Women’s Championship

Carmela, Natalya, Nikki Bella, Naomi, Alexa Bliss and Becky Lynch square off for the right to be crowned the first SmackDown Women’s champion and Lynch is the hands-down favorite. Nikki is a former champion but still not in full game shape while Natalya is as tough as nails.

Carmela, Alexa Bliss and Naomi are not entirely counted out so they too are in equal footing with Lynch and the rest.

WWE SmackDown Tag Team championship

Three tag teams will be up for the evening. Heath Slater and Rhyno await the winner between the Hype Bros and the Usos to determine who will be crowned SmackDown’s first tag team champions.

The newly turned-heel Usos are the favorites and a win could be pulled via dirty means. But the winner could very well be Slater and Rhyno seeing that the two have been the surprise of the mix. Worth noting is that Slater is under pressure to win to be included in the SmackDown roster.

Other matches pit Randy Orton vs. Bray Wyatt and Intercontinental champion “The Miz” defending against Dolph Ziggler. The Orton vs. Wyatt match should be interesting and is a toss-up.

“The Miz” on the other hand is likely to retain his title, with some assist from his wife, Marysse.
