After 2K Sports made their announcement regarding WWE 2K17 at E3, gamers have been aching for more news on playable characters, gameplay trailers, and the cover athlete for this year. Finally, the publishers made their announcement yesterday.

Brock Lesnar will be on the cover of WWE 2K17. You can take a look at the PS4 cover art and the official trailer below. Earlier, there was speculation on Dean Ambrose’s possibility as the cover athlete, but it was clarified that the selection process considered the showcase mode of the game, rather than the wrestler’s achievements in the ring.

According to Forbes, Brock Lesnar will be the first Athlete in history to appear on the cover of WWE 2K17 as well as UFC: Undisputed 2010. Lesnar is definitely the right choice as he is currently also the only athlete to have picked up the WWE title and UFC Heavyweight championship in his career.

According to a 2K sports press release, Brock Lesnar said, “My career has been defined by dominating every opportunity presented to me, I am excited for my newest opportunity representing WWE 2K17 as the franchise’s ambassador and honored to serve as the WWE 2K17 cover Superstar.”

In other news, WWE 2K17 has confirmed John Cena, Ultimate Warrior, and Sasha Banks as playable characters in the game. The announcement was made through a roster painting by Rob Schamberger at E3. The last two editions of WWE 2K featured John Cena and “Stone Cold” Steve Austin as cover athletes.

WWE 2K17 release date is set on October 11 for PS3, PS4, Xbox 360, and Xbox One. Purchasing the pre-order copy will provide players access to Goldberg with two skins, and new arenas that allows us to recreate WCW Monday Nitro and WCW Halloween Havoc.
