It is an understatement to say that things are heating up between the United States and Russia. A top Russian propogandist just warned the United States that its behavior could have nuclear implications – China is also reportedly joining in the conflict.

A Russian news presenter, dubbed the “Kremlin’s chief propagandist”, said recently that the “impudent behavior” of the United States against Moscow could have nuclear consequences. The warning came from Dmitry Kiselyov, who was appointed by Vladimir Putin to head the country’s government-owned news agency. Kiselyov issued the warning during the Monday night’s edition of his flagship current affairs programme Vesti Nedeli (News of the Week).

“The loud talk in Washington of a ‘Plan B’ for Syria. Everyone understands what this means: direct military force in Syria,” Independent quoted Kiselyov. The personality also commented on the warning of the Russian defense ministry about US bombers targeting the Syrian army. Kiselyov noted that Russia will shoot them down. Nonetheless, it is important to note that Kiselyov has been a subject of Western sanctions as well. The Russian media has referred to him as “militant anti-Westerner” and the county’s “chief propagandist.”

Nonetheless, it is not just Russia’s warnings that the United States have to be worried about. Russia also said that it has been working with China to go against the plans of the United States to missile-defense network which the two countries believe are out to get their military assets.

“We are working together on ways to minimize possible damage to the security of our countries,” Bloomberg quoted Lieutenant General Viktor Poznikhir of the Russian Armed Forces General Staff.

“The illusion of invulnerability and impunity under the guise of missile defense will encourage Washington to make unilateral steps in dealing with global and regional issues. This could lead to a decrease in the threshold for using nuclear weapons to preempt enemy actions.”
