Woman Wears No Pants In Court! Jail Refused To Give Pants & Hygiene Products
A Louisville judge was in complete shock when a black woman was brought into her courtroom without pants. The woman was taken to court from a Kentucky jail.Advertisement
According to WDRB, the attorney of the black woman told Louisville judge Amber Wolf that the jail had refused to provide her client with pants and hygiene products she needed.
The female inmate was in jail for not finishing a diversion program after a 2014 shoplifting charge. The inmate said she had been at Metro Corrections for days without pants. Jail authorities refused to give her a uniform despite repeated requests.
The situation outraged Judge Wolf. She asked whether she was in the “Twilight Zone.” The incident prompted her to call the jail and asked if they knew “what the hell is going on?”
While the woman and her attorney stood, Wolf called to talk with Metro Corrections Director Mark Bolton from her own cell phone during the hearing.
Wolf told someone that she wanted to ask him the reason there was a female defendant standing in front of her with no pants on.
“I’m not trying to embarrass you, I’m very sorry,” Wolf told the defendant in court.
“Can we get her something to cover up with? Anything, anything, anything. I don’t care what it is.”
The defendant informed the judge that other inmates at the facility were also mistreated. They were being denied appropriate clothing and basic hygiene products.
According to Huffington Post, a spokesman for the jail said that the woman had not been imprisoned for long, enough to receive a jail jumpsuit.
“I just want to tell you how incredibly sorry I am that you’ve been treated this way,” Wolf told the woman.
She also told her that this is completely “inhumane and unacceptable.”
A video of the hearing on Friday morning shows the whole incident.
