Windows 10-powered Vaio Handset Soon In US; Passes Bluetooth Test
US Vaio fans were disappointed to known that the Phone Biz was not coming to North America. But after a months, Vaio came up with good news saying a new Windows 10-powered smartphone recently got Bluetooth approval and will be launching soon.Advertisement
The Bluetooth Special Interest Group (SIG) gave a go signal to the new Vaio device, which carries the model number VPU051C11N. Observing the difference in model numbers, it would be a mistake to call the new phone a US version of the Biz model. Rather, the device is a completely new phone with fresh features.
Not much is revealed about the new model, except that the device is listed under SIG that reveals that it is a Vaio handset built by Taiwan-based company, Quanta Computer. Another crucial feature is that the phone will be running Windows 10 Mobile 10.0.10586, which is the current version of Windows 10, and not the new Redstone update, reports Neowin.
On the contrary, the Phone Biz, which was launched in early February in Japan, has the model number VPB0511S. It is a stylish mid-ranger, having support for Continuum. Also, it runs on the latest version of Microsoft’s Windows 10 Mobile operating system, reports GSM Arena.
A few days ago, the GFX Benchmark revealed a 4.7-inch device, having a 1080p display along with Snapdragon 615. If it turns out that the device spotted at the testing center is the new Vaio device, then it might launch soon in the US, Canada and other markets, too. Even if it is not, the new device will be a mid-range phone and will give fans a chance to enjoy another Windows 10–powered smartphone.
Since the launch of Microsoft’s new operating system for smartphones, the Windows 10 Mobile, several phones are already getting the new update. After weeks of speculation, Windows 10 is finally arriving in Lumia handsets this week. Click here to know if Windows 10 Lumia update has started rolling out.
