Ever since Windows 10 launched last year, the OS has been under the spotlight. It is past eight months since the launch of the OS, and a lot of upgrades and changes took place in between. We give you a round-up of the release date, different versions, specifications and features, price and updates of the OS.

Windows 10 Release Date: Microsoft launched the Windows 10 on July 29, 2015. However, the Redmond tech giant had fast and slow track releases for Windows Inside Program subscribers.

  • Windows 10 Versions: The different versions include Windows 10 Education, Windows 10 Home, Windows 10 Pro, Windows 10 Mobile Enterprise, Windows 10 Enterprise and Windows 10 Mobile.
  • Windows 10 specs and features: Initially Microsoft removed the iconic Start Menu as it appeared on Windows 8, but apparently, the company reinstated the feature for the latest software after negative feedback from users. Another defining feature is Microsoft’s virtual assistant, Cortana, which is used as a search function in both the new browser and the OS.

Microsoft Edge is another highlighted feature that replaced the Internet Explorer. It functions more like Mozilla Firefox or Google Chrome. When engineers were developing Windows 10, the idea was to create a clutter-free and easy to navigate Universal Apps, which appeal to both developers and consumers.
