Windows 10 mobile upgrade has been long due. Microsoft was supposed to release the upgrade in December, but it was postponed. Then news came saying that existing Lumia devices eligible for the Windows 10 upgrade will receive the instructions in January. And now, Microsoft has spoken about the release date.
Microsoft has not given out the exact release date yet, but through its support pages and Twitter account for Lumia, the company has assured users that the Windows 10 mobile upgrade will be available soon. Whereas Vodafone Australia has said they are expecting to receive the update by mid-January, Movistar Spain expects it to release it by the end of January 2016.
On January 2, a Lumia user asked Microsoft on its support page on Twitter,” if windows 10 upgrade will be available for Microsoft Lumia 535?” @LumiaHelp replied, “We’re working to make Windows 10 available to eligible Lumia smartphones running Windows Phone 8.1 as an upgrade.” On Microsoft’s Support page are additional information about the availability of the Windows 10 mobile upgrade. The page clearly states that only Lumia devices running Windows 8.1 are eligible for the update. And yes, the smartphone should have at least 8GB of internal memory. The not-so-good news is that on its support page, has also confirmed that the devices will not support all Windows 10 features after updating. Microsoft in its post further wrote, “Only phones running Lumia Denim (OS version 8.10.14219.341, or higher) can take advantage of the upgrade to Windows 10. By keeping your phone software updated you can get fresh new features and improvements, and resolve many issues. ”
When another Lumia user asked about the exact release date, here is what @LumiaHelp said,
As suggested, keep checking your local support page for updates. We hope that Microsoft doesn’t delay the Windows 10 mobile upgrade any further, as Lumia users are eagerly waiting for it.
