Windows 10 Cortana Comes To iOS, Android And Cyanogen Devices
Have you ever read about Windows 10 Cortana and wondered how does this digital assistant work compared to Siri? Or did you ever feel bad that you may never get to experience Microsoft’s personal assistant since you are loyal to Android? Microsoft is trying to push Windows 10 as hard as it can. This is one such strategy.Advertisement
Windows 10 devices are limited, especially in the smartphone segment. And whatever is available is priced so high not everyone can afford these phones. So in order to convince people to switch to Windows 10 or buy these devices, Microsoft is making one of its best features available to other devices: Android, iOS and Cyanogen. While announcing Windows 10 Cortana’s availability on other operating systems, Microsoft on its blog wrote,
“Cortana was created to be a truly personal digital assistant – available on the go, no matter where or when you need help, and on whatever device you carry. That’s why it’s important to us that we bring Cortana to not only the Windows 10 ecosystem, but to other platforms. Today, we’re excited to announce that Cortana is available on select iPhone, Android and Cyanogen OS powered devices as a great companion experience to your Windows 10 PC.”
Cortana for mobile phones work exactly the way it works on desktops. There won’t be any compromise with the features. But as other devices are new to Cortana, the digital assistant is still not offering all the features to Android and iOS devices it offers to Windows 10. For instance, you will not be able to start Cortana hands-free by just saying “Hey Cortana.” What about Cyanogen? Microsoft said that the company has “created a more integrated experience to enable Cortana’s voice activation ‘Hey Cortana’ on Cyanogen devices.” So you can awake your digital assistant on these devices by just calling out to it.
On Cyanogen, Windows 10 Cortana will be able to enable Quiet Mode, which will help you silence notifications, alarms and calls. You will also be able to toggle the network modes. We are sure that Cortana has more in store for Android and iOS as well. Till then, try this one of the most beloved Windows 10 feature on your devices.
