White House Welcomes Kanye West’s Presidential Announcement
The White House is ready for anything that the campaign for Kanye West’s presidential bid in 2020 is going to throw at them. In fact, press secretary Josh Earnest is looking forward to what the whole campaign slogan will be about.
Speaking to Politico aboard the Air Force One on Monday, the press secretary said he is prepared for some expected “epic” campaign platform. Politico reported that Earnest is especially looking forward “to seeing what slogan he chooses to embroider on his campaign hat.”
The report from Politico also noted that Eugene Craig III, chairman of the Young Minority Republicans Fund, was already one step ahead. The chairman had already filed a Federal Election Commission Form 1 or what is also known as the campaign finance disclosure form for a “Ready for Kanye” super PAC.
Also noted on Politico’s report is a tweet from Shaun King, a well-known Black Lives Matter organizer. King tweeted “Let’s be real. If your ONLY TWO CHOICES were Trump or Kanye, who would you vote for? Retweet for Kanye. Favorite for Trump.” A quick check by Morning News USA of King’s tweet found that the tweet had been retweeted for more than 2,000 times and was only favorite for 135 times. See King’s tweet here.
UPROXX, meanwhile, found the man who seemingly was the influence to West’s presidential announcement on the stage of the recently held VMAs 2015. The website has gotten hold of a clip from a California State University student, Pablo Chacon. In the clip, Chacon yelled “Kanye for President!” as West was delivering his speech. The rapper then, indeed, finished off his speech with the announcement of 2020 presidential bid. See the clip here.
While it was particularly important to note that West admitted to “rolling up something to smoke” before going up the stage, the rapper seemed to be serious about running for the presidential seat. If a report from Hollywood Life is anything to go by, then West really is passionate about running.
According to a source who has spoken exclusively with the Hollywood Life, “When Kanye speaks, people listen. He seriously knows that! In that moment when he made that announcement, he was serious about running for president.” Also, West was already being referred to as “Mr. President” while dining at a restaurant with Kim Kardashian after the VMAs.
