The Black Eyed Peas is back with the remake of “Where Is The Love,” their hit single in 2003.
In its music video released on Wednesday, the band, composed of Fergie, Will.i.am, apl.de.ap, Taboo, shared their thoughts on the current social scenario wherein crimes and brutality have been making headlines endlessly.
It can be noted that just recently, terror attacks have happened in different parts of the world which killed a lot of people. Following these social concerns, the group decided to ask their friends, who are also big names in the entertainment industry, to join them in the “Where Is The Love” remake in 2016.
When asked why they record the video again, Will.i.am had this to say, “I remember when the attack in Paris happened, people would say ‘We need “Where Is The Love?’’ again.”
“And then Belgium happened, and then Turkey, and then Orlando, and then Philando [Castile], and then Alton [Sterling] before him, and then Dallas. Everyone was calling on us like, ‘We need that song again,’” Just Jared reported.
To show their support to this project, a lot of stars – from singers to actors and models – offered their services to the “Where Is The Love” remake 2016, whose proceeds will be donated to will.i.am‘s i.am.angel foundation, a charity that implements education-related initiatives, including scholarships.
Among the artists who appeared in the music video are Justin Timberlake, Kendall Jenner, Mary J. Blige, Diddy, DJ Khaled, A$AP Rocky, Tori Kelly, Nicole Scherzinger, Jamie Foxx, Jessie J, Usher, Jaden Smith, Snoop Dogg, Randy Jackson, Wilmer Valderrama, French Montana, Wiz Khalifa, LL Cool J, Shailene Woodley, Vanessa Hudgens, Lance Bass and Connie Britton.
Based on the statement released about the “Where Is The Love” remake, the song and its video “calls for calm, asking citizens of the world to stop the hate and violence that has resulted in many lives lost,” according to Associated Press via Huffington Post.
