Wendy Williams is currently in how water for her comments about Jesse Williams’ BET speech and the Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs).

While she has been known to be very vocal with her thoughts, it has appeared that she has gone overboard that even some of her co-hosts were unhappy about it.

The 51-year-old television talk show host reportedly called the “Grey’s Anatomy” actor a racist based on what he said in his speech.

“I must say to you, he was on BET. His speech was very poignant,” she noted, according to BET.com.

“The Wendy Williams Show” host continued by pointing out that she would have been offended if “a historically white college” was around. “on the other hand, you know, I would be really offended if there was a school that was known as a historically white college. We have historically black colleges,” she said, to show that national organisations for ethnic minorities exists in America but none for white people.

“What if there was the National Organization for White People, only? There’s the NAACP,” she added.

For her, the issue of racism is better addressed and curtailed at home. “Racism sucks and we can all do better in our own households, educating our children to make to make it better.”

As the show host’s purpose was merely to air out her side of the issue, it did not sit well with others. Wendy Williams’ comment apparently got some irked who called her a racist in return by defending White people and underestimating the plights of Blacks.

Desi K. Robinson, for instance, tweeted, “@WendyWilliams Diminishing validity of #HistoricallyBlackColleges ? Important/safe spaces honoring educational experience of POC? C’monWendy.”

With what she said, Keyonte Smoot called her ignorant, while Mechelle My Bell stressed that she should have used her money and influence to know more about her history.

It can be recalled that on Friday, Erin Smith set up a petition on Change.org to remove Jesse Williams from portraying as Dr. Jackson Avery in “Grey’s Anatomy” following his allegedly racist speech, Daily Mail UK reported.

However, a counter-petition calling for him to stay was made.
