Weather Report: East Coast Prepares To Get Covered In Snow

Cites around the east coast like New York and Washington, DC are bracing for a blizzard as they prepare for the first major Atlantic Coast storm of the season.

The Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority had also announced service suspensions the Metrorail, Metrobus, and MetroAccess ahead of what is being perceived as a “potentially historic blizzard.” All services will operate on Friday until 11 p.m. and will be closed all day on both Saturday and Sunday.

The National Weather Service has already issued a Blizzard Warning in the Metro service area from Friday afternoon to Sunday morning. The winter storm is expected to sweep through parts of the mid-Atlantic from Friday and will continue into early Sunday. Areas like Baltimore and Washington, DC may be covered with two feet of snowfall. At the same time, Kentucky and North Carolina may also expect to experience “significant icing.”

In response to the coming storm, airlines have already started canceling flights for Friday and Saturday. Washington Mayor Muriel Bowser and New York Mayor Bill de Blasio have also asked motorists to stay off the roads. Bowser also said that public schools will be closed on Friday while local government offices will be closing at noon.
